Road and Rail Structures 2016
Design, Development and Life Cycle Management of Road and Rail Structures
Ageing infrastructure, an increasing population and urban congestion is fuelling an increase in infrastructure investment across Australia, as highlighted by the NSW Government’s recent commitment of $20 Billion for infrastructure projects.
Given that roads still account for over 70% of all domestic passenger movements, and rail freight is expected to jump by two thirds by 2030, the efficient design development and life cycle management of road and rail structures is central to the success of this investment.
With that in mind, Road and Rail Structure will focus on the following key topics:
- Strategies for completing road and rail projects on time, and on budget
- Increasing durability and resilience of road and rail structures to extend their lifespan
- Improving life cycle planning and costing
